Counter Offer

We got a counter offer on the house yesterday. The sellers didn't budge on their original asking price near as much as we'd have liked. Between that and some second thoughts we'd been having on the house, we decided not to pursue it any further for the time being.

Our second thoughts:
1. The house just didn't "feel" like us. Sounds silly, maybe, but that's the way it is.
2. There are four entrances into the house on the main floor that go right outdoors. Only one is into the fenced in back yard. This made me uncomfortable for two reasons: 1) Too many ways for Becca and Baby#2 to sneak out without me knowing; 2) Too many ways for others to get in and too many doors for me to remember to lock!
3. The office in the basement is oddly shaped and the disclosure listed some water in the basement a few years ago. Living in Indiana, I think it would just be best for Nate's office to be on the main floor or upstairs.

So, we're back to square one. A bit discouraging, but we know God has something better for us. We're just hoping it's close to this house. :)

House

On Friday we had our realtor present an offer on a house for us. Now we are waiting, waiting, waiting for a reply. We probably won't hear anything until Tuesday. I'm just trying not to think about it. Just thought I'd at least mention it on here in case, Lord willing, the whole thing goes through and we end up buying the house.

Blue Baby Sweater

On our trip to Texas I knitted this sweater for Baby #2.
I made the 6 month size with a pretty blue/green wool that is super soft (I think it has alpaca wool in it too, which must make it so soft?). This is the Easy Peasy Cardigan (it's the second to last pattern on the page) from Little Turtle Knits. You have to buy the pattern for $10 or so, but it is so worth it. I've made two sweaters now from the pattern and plan on making another for Becca in the 3T size once I can find some good chocolate brown cotton yarn. The pattern is super easy, all garter (knit) stitch knitted in one piece, so you only have to stitch up the sides and under the arms--the pattern shows how to do this.

Here is the first sweater I made for Becca from the pattern:
She's 7 months in the picture, but the sweater is the 12 month size, so it fit her for awhile.

And here is Becca holding her little brother/sister's sweater. She loves anything for the baby and lovingly helped me put it into the bottom drawer of her dresser where all the other newborn clothes are right now.

Two year ago at this time...

Nate and I were at the birthing center just north of Houston in my hardest part of labor. Thankfully, by God's grace, and the support of my wonderful husband and a fabulous birth assistant (both of which are also due to God's grace), we made it through and at 1:58am on May 24th, our Rebecca Joy was born. Happy Birthday, sweetheart. We love you.

Project photos-tank top

Here are a few photos of the tank top I knitted for Becca. I double- and single-crocheted the straps instead of using a chain stitch. They just stayed on her shoulders better and I liked the look. If you want the pattern, you can find it here.

Above is one of my latest CD cases projects. This one was for above Becca's crib. I think Kate asked if I just had 5x7 photos around for the last project, and I kind of did. This time I used 4x6 size photos and attached them to card stock. I cut the pictures so that there was a half inch border around them. The card stock is also attached to a piece of cardboard (from Cheerios or cracker box). I'm really pleased with how they turned out. Becca is too, mostly because she likes having pictures of Emma, my parents' cat, to look at when she is in her room.

Movin'

Baby#2 is moving like crazy tonight. I always wonder what he/she is doing in there. It's so distracting, but so fun too.

Comparison

Kate wondered if I was looking the same this time around at 25 weeks as I did last time. I thought I'd post some pictures to compare. I think I'm now about the same at 25 weeks as I was last time, but if you look at some of the comparisons between earlier weeks, I think I definitely popped out earlier.

Museum Offers to Buy Cockroaches

If we still lived there, we could make a little bit of pocket change with the roaches that "lived" with us. Gross! That is one exhibit I would not be visiting. I saw enough of those the last three months we lived in our condo. *shivers*

Lanolin frustrations

I did the whole lanolin process with the wool longies and green wool cover, and the green wool one let lots of wetness through right onto her pants. Do I have to do it multiple times the first time? Could my yarn (Cascade 220 brand) be so stripped up lanolin from the processing and dyeing that it needs a lot more added at first? I really want these wool covers to work. Help!
